[General Product Description]
[Weight Claimed]: Unknown
[Weight Actual]: 10 oz
The Soul, Side Zip Bivy is a single person shelter option. The one I purchased is the wide and long model with netting. In basic shape, it is a tube with a draw string closure at the foot and a zipper entrance that zips from the top left around the face area to the right side and down the mid length of the bivy. It is constructed of two fabrics. The bottom, seamed floor is a gray silnylon for waterproofing. The top is made of Epic coated .85 oz (I think) nylon. There is a window sewn in at the zipper in the face area. There is a section of netting that is attached to the two sides of the main zipper. This allows the netting to be outside the bivy when the main zipper is closed. There is a medium weight wire that runs along the top side of the main zipper that is used to keep the netting/window off of the sleeper’s face.

[Initial Thoughts]
As always with MLD, the construction is top notch. All seams are well stitched and placed. The zippers are sewn properly and well placed. The plastic window does not look aged or have any negative signs of wear. The fabric feels thin but that is to be expected. In all the bivy feels durable and comfortable.

[General Use]
Upfront, I purchased this in plans for my AT thru-hike. It will be used in various weather conditions from low temps to rainy days in the heat and everything in between.
